Football is back

According to multiple reports around the league, the NFLPA and league owners have approved the proposed changes to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

That means the Giants full squad will report Tuesday, July 28, for Covid-19 testing, with a second round of testing to follow on the fourth day of camp.

Players who test negative twice will then be allowed into the facility and camp will proceed. Daily testing will take place the first two weeks of camp and move to every other day IF the positive rate is below five percent.

Yes training camp will look different at the beginning, and it will be a slow process, but people, football is back.

  1. It’s so great there now is a Giant Insider website. Congratulations Jerry and Chris!

I can’t believe I’m the first to comment. I’ve been a Giants fan for as long as I can remember, starting with the end of the drought in the 70s, and “coming of age” in 81 with LT and their first playoff birth in my lifetime. Let me say that I think your podcast is the best of them all. I regularly listen to several Giants podcasts, but yours is the one I most look forward to. I’m so glad football (and baseball) is back. The “Football is back” title makes me think of the clip of Carl Banks on the bench saying, “We’re baaaack” – when telling other teams they were in the playoffs again and ready to dominate. And if I may suggest something, I propose we call Xavier McKinney: “X-Mack.” We already have an X-Man, and now perhaps we can add X-Mack.

Here’s to everyone staying as safe as possible, and hoping for a full season of football (and baseball). Cheers.
